Shocked there is Gambling
Research for Online Investors

ABC has a story
headlined, “Administration Shocked by GM and
Chrysler.” My first thought when reading this
headline was that they were starting to act more and more
like government bureaucrats. The story is mostly fluff, conveying Steve
Rattner’s observations concerning mismanagement, and the
insular nature of the ivory towers. This reminds me of my favorite move line
from Casablanca, “I am shocked…shocked there is gambling
going on…”
The Democratic
Party of Japan overwhelmingly won elections in
August.
One of their main planks was
changing the relationship with the United
States.
The Washington Post has the story
of frustration felt dealing with shifting political winds,
“U.S. pressures Japan on military
package.”
At stake is a Marine base, refueling operations for our Navy
supporting the war in Afghanistan, efforts to counter
China’s expanding military and North Korea’s
missiles. One of the
funniest unattributed comments from our state department is,
“the new
ruling party lacks experience in government and came to power
wanting politicians to be in
charge.”
I wonder how some of our allies
feel about the current
administration…
Nokia (NOK) has
sued Apple (AAPL) in Delaware for violation of ten basic
patents affecting the iphone. Oops.

“The only
bubble I see developing in the world right now is in long-term
government bonds in the United States. The idea that somebody
would lend money to the United States for 30 years in U.S.
dollars at 4 or 5 or 6 percent interest is incomprehensible to
me.”----Legendary
Investor Jim Rogers
And our quote sent in by
subscriber T.W. to compliment the article from Asia Times
referenced yesterday. “Peace is
that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands
around reloading.”---Anonymous
