Iranian Opening, Our New Ally?
Research for Online Investors

by John Dalt

3/20/09

It is hard to write the letter today.  My Alma Marter basketball team is playing in “March Madness”.  Go KU….They Won!

Now that that is out of the way, I can concentrate on providing you information you can use to make money.   At the very least, understand what is happening that may affect you.

OH! Bama wants to open a dialogue with Iran.   Good Luck.   At first, I recoiled from this idea, but on reflection, I wish him luck.   One of the beauties of elections is it allows the new administration to take initiatives that were not possible before. He and his cohorts better take off their rose-colored glasses.   I would have a lot more confidence in success if there were any heavyweights in his administration.    Hillary just does not inspire me.

Robert Baer wrote “The Devil We Know” about Iran’s goals and subversion in the Middle East. Baer is an accomplished author and was a CIA operative.   He is considered an expert on the Middle East.   I recommend you read his book.   His insights will raise questions about what you think you know. Reading learned articles and books always reminds me of “what I don’t know, I don’t know”, to quote Donald Rumsfeld.

The market acted as expected today. We opened lower working our way down to 766 on the SP500. There was a failed rally with one hour until close, then we whimpered home. Gold traded sideways after the big run-up and oil rose slightly. Events over the weekend will shape traders attitude on Monday. At this point, we probably should expect selling to continue. 750 on the S&P should provide some support.

There is an interesting video on YouTube. A gentleman dressed as Thomas Paine makes it. I am sure you remember Thomas Paine; he authored ‘Common Sense' in 1776 advocating independence from Britain for the colonies.

We closed out two more trades today in the SwingTrade service.   This brings our total to nine trades this month with an average profit of 8.9%, no losers.   If you would to join us in profits, read about it here.

A good quote to finish the week:

To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.”

                                  Thomas Paine (1737-1809)
